Message from Delegate Julian Ivey

Due to the seriousness of the issue, I’d like to provide you with another update related to the coronavirus crisis.

State ordered closures

  • Racetracks

  • Casinos

  • Simulcast betting

  • Bars

  • Restaurants

  • Movie theaters

  • Gyms


  • The governor is banning gatherings of 50+. The president is advising gatherings of no more than 10 people for the next 15 days. He also says the crisis could last through the summer.

County state of emergency

  • The county executive has declared a state of emergency in Prince George’s County.


  • Local hospitals, including Prince George’s Hospital, are working to have drive-thru testing up this week.


  • Xfinity wifi free for everyone

  • No disconnects/late fees

  • Internet Essentials free to new customers

  • Increasing speed of Internet Essentials

  • News, information, and educational content on X1 and Flex

  • Free (expanded/unlimited) data for customers

  • 24x7 network monitoring

Tele-town hall with the county executive

National Guard

  • It has been activated, and we saw their presence at the State House.

The state is expanding access to child care for workers in the following fields:

  • health care

  • emergency medical services

  • law enforcement

  • The Federal Reserve has slashed interest rates to near zero, and it is buying bonds — it is buying $500 billion of Treasury securities and at least $200 billion of mortgage-backed debt “over coming months.”

  • The Supreme Court is postponing oral arguments.
